Flip Me On A lot of people malign the television medium (I'm looking at you, movie snobs), but TV offers stories and characters that movies can't. A season's worth of growth in story and character would take, at least, half a dozen films. That's why I prefer TV most of the time. Sure, it can be trashy, exploitative, and suck, but that's true of any form of entertainment.
Besides, TV's just damn fun. I've quoted "The Simpsons" more times than I can count, and I enjoy the cynical humor of "House," and I can't get enough of the science fiction mysteries and twists of "Fringe." There's so much out there that I'll never watch that I try to watch as engaged as I can.
Watching a show together and laughing at its one-liners, repeating them later; viewing a Ken Burns documentary and discussing the triumphs and failures of his topic du jour; experiencing the ups and downs of a drama and guessing what's next: these are but a few of the joys of TV.
