Who says there are too many channels on TV? TV is my major form of entertainment. I usually plan my evenings around which shows will be on. I use a DVR in the living room and also tape shows in my bedroom so I don't miss any of my favorites. I always look forward to finding new series to watch obsessively.
My favorites are science fiction, fantasy, comedy, and detective/crime but I do watch many others.
